2045 Comprehensive Plan

photo of 2045 Comprehensive Plan

The Planning Department has begun to update the county’s current comprehensive plan (2026 Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2009). This important document will provide the framework for how the county will grow and develop over the next 20 years. We are asking residents and interested stakeholders to become involved in “HenricoNext”, a process to create a cohesive, countywide vision for Henrico in 2045.

An interactive (in-person and virtual options available) workshop will be held Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at 4301 E. Parham Road. Participants will be invited to share their impressions of Henrico’s quality of life and challenges. They also will be able to identify areas of the county where housing, jobs or transportation improvements are needed and rank the importance of such goals as protecting the character of neighborhoods, maximizing opportunities for economic development and promoting infill development. (In-person attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet, smartphone or other internet-accessible device, so they can join in exercises and give feedback in real time.)

Residents and others unable to attend the workshop may provide input later. For more information on the project, the upcoming meeting or to sign-up for future updates, please visit www.henriconext.us.

Comments or questions about the Plan Update can be directed to the Planning Department at 804.501.4602 or [email protected].
