VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Henrico is working to strengthen the tree canopies at county parks and schools through a partnership with Henrico County Public Schools, Capital Trees and the Virginia Department of Forestry. This effort will enhance local tree canopies by creating additional habitat areas and planting trees native to Virginia. The reforestation program also will help to naturally clean our air.
The project’s first phase will identify and catalog the native tree population at Deep Run and Dorey parks and at John Rolfe and Fairfield Middle Schools. We are seeking volunteers to help with this effort. A two-day training will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon Friday, Sept. 22 and 9 a.m.- noon Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Dorey Park Recreation Center, 2999 Darbytown Road.
To register, please email nei003@henrico.us.
We appreciate your efforts to “green up” Henrico County.
