Feb 1: The Ragged Road to Reconstruction
The American Civil War ended in 1865. The period that followed was going to be a time of reunification, reform, and physical rebuilding, but legislation was enacted to create a period of division, fear, and oppression. The immediate effects of reconstruction legislation and the birth of Jim Crow will be discussed during this focus tour.

Before Sherlock Holmes and CSI, how were suspicious deaths investigated? Join us on this focus tour as we examine Mosby Sheppard of Meadow Farm’s career as a coroner during the early 1800s in Henrico County.
