Nuckols Trail

The County of Henrico will be constructing accommodations to increase pedestrian access and connectivity. The following improvements will be constructed, including: 

• ​​A new, a 12 foot wide multi-use trail that is approximately 1 mile in length that includes a pedestrian bridge over the Meredith Branch tributary.   
• ​This trail would provide a connection from Springfield Road to Francistown Road.   
• ​Approximately 0.4 miles of the trail will be on existing Nuckols Road while 0.6 miles will follow the existing alignment off road.
• The project will occur in multiple phases. Phase 1 is to be funded locally and be constructed from Springfield Road to Broad Meadows Road.  
• The County is applying for Transportation Alternatives grant funding to construct Phase 2, from Broad Meadows Road to Francistown Road.     ​ 

Estimated Schedule: (Month Year) 

• Design began ​June 2023​. 
• Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated to begin ​August 2023​. 
• Utility relocation is not anticipated with this project. 
• Advertisement for construction is anticipated to begin ​October 2024​. 
• Construction is anticipated to begin March 2025.
