Henrico 4-H opens registration for summer day camps for youth

Henrico 4-H is accepting registration for four summer day camps that will help youth have fun while learning about such topics as health and nutrition, science and animals.

The cost to participate is $35 per camp; space is limited. All sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on the dates listed below at the Twin Hickory Recreation Center, 5011 Twin Hickory Road.

  • Let’s Move: Healthy Head, Heart & Hands Camp – June 21-24

Staying healthy involves physical activity, a balanced, nutritious diet and mental wellness. Participate in physical activities such as weightlifting, cardio exercises, aerobics and yoga. Learn to make healthy food choices. Practice mental wellness. Open to ages 9-13, as of Sept. 30, 2022.

  • Up & Atom: STEM Scientist Camp – July 25-28

Be a scientist, engineer and food technologist. Imagine, plan, create and experiment through chemistry, rocketry, biology, physics, agriculture, foods and more. Open to ages 9-13, as of Sept. 30, 2022.

  • Making Tracks: Animal Science Camp – Aug. 1-4

Discover the uniqueness of animals. Explore and interact with live animals, investigate diseases and learn how to care for animals. Open to ages 9-13, as of Sept. 30, 2022.

  • Discover 4-H: Cloverbud Camp – Aug. 8-11

Explore the diverse areas 4-H has to offer, with a different topic highlighted each day. Participate in hands-on activities, games, crafts and discovery opportunities. Open to ages 5-8, as of Sept. 30, 2022.

Registration for the camps is accepted online and is not guaranteed until payment is received. More information on Henrico’s 4-H clubs is online.

Henrico 4-H is still accepting registration for the Henrico Junior 4-H Camp, which will be held from July 11-15 at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, near Williamsburg.

The Junior 4-H Camp is open to youth ages 9 to 14, costs $300 to attend and provides a fun, safe environment to learn, make friends and discover the outdoors through such activities as swimming, archery, canoeing, basketball, forestry, shooting education, campfires, crafts, marine science and more. Registration forms are due by Wednesday, June 1. More information on 4-H is online.
