Creighton Road Improvements between North Laburnum Avenue and the city of Richmond limits began Monday, May 19 and include replacement of the narrow bridge by Glenwood Golf Club. The focus of this first 0.5 mile segment between Caddie Lane and Stone Dale Drive, will be road widening and realignment and the construction of a new bridge structure. A wider, two-lane bridge will be installed to the north of the existing, one-lane structure, which spans the creek. The bridge approaches will also be improved.
Creighton Road is closed to through-traffic from Caddie Lane to Stone Dale Drive until completion of the project. A detour will direct motorists on Creighton Road around the work zone by way of Gordons Lane, Nine Mile Road and Laburnum Avenue. Access to Glenwood Golf Club will be allowed from the western side of the work zone, toward Richmond City. Residents inside the work zone will have access to their properties throughout construction.
Final Completion: December 2016
Project Cost: $3.45 million
The next segment of the Creighton Road Improvements will be to construct a 0.4 mile 4-lane divided roadway between Sandy Lane and E. Laburnum Avenue. It includes curb-and-gutter, drainage improvements, sidewalk on both sides of the road, and realigning the intersection with Dabbs House Road to a point approximately 500 feet west of the current intersection.
