Installation of permanent roundabouts by Charles Glen, Crestview subdivisions to begin July 7

Work to replace 4 temporary roundabouts is expected through Aug. 18

Four intersections by the Charles Glen and Crestview subdivisions, off Horsepen Road, will close at different times this summer for work to replace temporary roundabouts with permanent roundabouts.

Work will begin Friday, July 7 with the removal of the four temporary roundabouts and the milling of the intersections and of Miami Avenue between Charles Street and Wake Forest Drive.

The intersections at Charles Street and Dartmouth Avenue and at Miami Avenue and Wake Forest Drive will close Monday, July 10 or Tuesday, July 11 for about two to three weeks while crews install permanent roundabouts.

Under the project’s schedule, the intersection at Miami Avenue and Charles Street will close the week of July 24 followed by the intersection at Wake Forest Drive and Dartmouth Avenue the week of Aug. 7.

Each intersection also will receive ADA-accessible crosswalks and ramps. Detours will be in place to guide motorists around the work zones.

The project is expected to be complete by Friday, Aug. 18, before the start of the school year.
