Bulletin Board Kit
This is a free bulletin board kit to help your students learn about the three Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle.

Litterless Lunch Poster
Are you teaching your students about the importance of reducing waste?  We would love to provide with a copy of our Litterless Lunch Poster.

Children’s Environmental Activity Book
Targeted toward the younger grades this activity book educates our youngest citizens on environmental stewardship opportunities in Henrico, County.

School Yard Clean-up Supplies
Interested in getting your students outside to do a clean-up?  We can help! We provide litter grabbers, bags, gloves, and vests. We just need the litter grabbers returned and a completed evaluation form submitted.

In-Class Presentations

The Amazing Journey:  Recycling Adaptation (grades 3-5)
Students will simulate the movement of beverage containers around the recycling loop and record their journey with a collection of different colored beads.

The Green Machine:  The Magic Recycling Bin (grades k-1) 
Students watch as recyclable items go in the bin and new products come out. Next the students view CVWMA’s 6-minute video, Journey to the MRF, to see what really happens to their recycling. To conclude, the KHB Coordinator reads two related stories.

Back to Basics with Litter and Recycling (grades k-2)
Students discuss and learn vocabulary words associated with waste management, listen to the story The Day the Trash Came Out to Play by David M. Beadle, and create their own reusable product.

 

Preschool Activity
This lesson plan is great for preschool-age children and Kindergarten students. If you would like assistance with this lesson or would like to borrow one of the books mentioned, please contact the KHB office.
