Sleeping in a home without working smoke alarms is DANGEROUS! The Division of Fire is eager to prevent this. We will ensure that your home has at least the minimum protection: one working alarm [independent] on each level of your home. Our program was created to assist those in our community who cannot afford smoke alarms and those who are having difficulty keeping alarms working.

For those in the community with adequate financial resources, please understand that better systems are available. Smoke alarms which are interconnected [when one sounds, they all sound] offer the BEST protection. We also recommend that interconnected alarms be installed in all bedrooms for increased safety.

  • Disclaimer: Smoke alarm checks and installations normally occur during regular business hours between 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday. By submitting this request, you agree to have someone available at the residence for personnel to conduct the smoke alarm check when you have been contacted and a appointment scheduled with the Fire Department. If you have not received a response within 48 hours, please email [email protected] and someone will contact you.
