My Henrico Academy

Henrico County and the Asian and Latino Solidarity Alliance (ALSA) recognize the value of creating and providing an opportunity for multicultural communities to learn more about how local government works and how you can become more engaged in the civic process and connected to the community.

My Henrico Academy (MHA), a free program that helps multicultural communities connect with their local government and community as well as access a host of programs, services and resources. MHA is a free and interactive, engaging learning program offered in partnership with the ALSA. Participants attend seven sessions from May to October that allow them the opportunity to learn about county governance, meet county leaders, and learn about Henrico programs and services.

In addition to gaining a better understanding of how local government works, you will:

  • Obtain the skills necessary that will allow you to navigate the governmental and the social and human services systems independently, effectively, and efficiently;
  • Learn how to resolve issues and obtain information; and
  • Expand your network and become prepared to pursue leadership opportunities within the community.
