Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer Opportunities
The Henrico Medical Reserve Corps mission is to augment and assist existing community operations during large-scale emergencies, aid in response to pressing healthcare needs, and improve community emergency preparedness. Community Health Worker (Public Health Initiative)
Henrico County Health Department is recruiting volunteers to serve as Community Health Workers (CHWs). CHWs will empower people in their own neighborhoods to navigate and find resources that will help prevent or manage chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. CHWs will provide chronic disease prevention education, informal counseling, social support and referrals to medical and non-medical services. CHWs will collaborate with Henrico community based clinics, hospitals, school system and faith-based organizations. The time commitment is only 3-4 hours per week. In addition to the satisfaction of helping those in need, CHWs will receive free training and mileage reimbursement. If you’re interested we’d love to have you!
