Online Recreation Classes

We invite you to our “virtual classroom.” These FREE classes are held online using the WEbEx platform. Participants will need to register in advance to receive a link to access the virtual classroom. Once class begins, participants can interact with the instructor and staff through a Q&A or Chat feature.

Yin yoga is a quiet, meditative practice with long, deep holding of passive poses, the opposite of a yang or active yoga practice. Yin targets connective tissues including fascia, bones, and joints, improves flexibility and strength, reduces stress and tension while encouraging mindfulness and meditation. Instructor: Debbie N.

Thur, Aug 20 at 4:00pm: Relaxation Techniques for Mind & Body
You can conquer shoulder tension and those racing thoughts that get in the way of a productive day. Learn and practice a series of muscular, breathing and imagery techniques that can help you to “keep calm and carry on”. They can be used as part of your fitness routine or on the fly as needed! You’ll be introduced to three different relaxation strategies including progressive muscle relaxation exercises, focused breathing techniques, and guided imagery. Instructor: Elaine O.

Mon, Aug 24 at 4:00pm: Chair Yoga
This gentle form of yoga is practiced sitting on a chair or using a chair for support during standing poses. Chair yoga is especially suitable for older adults, and those with balance, mobility or coordination issues. Chair yoga helps increase flexibility, lung capacity, circulation and strength, improves balance, and relieves stress. The class incorporates breathing exercises, stretching, yoga postures, and final relaxation. Instructor: Debbie N.
