Online Classes

We’re excited to offer some of our programs in a virtual format!
All classes will be led by our recreation staff and can be viewed online.

Types of Classes

1. Interactive WebEx Class: Register in advance to receive a link to access an interactive class. Participants will join the class virtually can can comment or ask questions of the instructor. Once the interactive class is complete, the content will be posted on YouTube for anyone to view. (Tip: To register, click on the link and then select “(Register)” next to the “Event Status: Not Started”)

2. YouTube Program: These classes will be posted directly to YouTube and can be viewed at any time. (No registration required)

Thur, June 4 at 11:00am: Chair Stretching for Seniors
Seniors will enjoy a series of seated and standing repetitive movements to include strength exercises to increase mobility, feelings of well-being and encourage physical activity. Use items from home such as canned goods, framed pictures, weights, stuffed animals, books, etc. Instructor: Sheila C. Register for this Online Class

Mon, June 8 at 11:00am: Embossing Three Ways! with Katie J.
Learn to emboss paper, a canvas and using metal. Three beautiful ways to create artwork! Register for this Online Class

Wed, June 10 at 11:00am: Family Games with Sheila C.
Enjoy traditional Tic-Tac-Toe family fun with a twist – it’s life sized! We’ll also demonstrate how to play a potato game together as a family.

Wed, June 17 at 11:00am: Solar Cooking with Katie J.
Warmer temperatures bring more opportunities to do some solar cooking! Learn to make s’mores in a self-made solar oven and then try out other recipes!

Fri, June 19 at 6:00pm: Mystery Theatre with Elbert G.
Who Dunit? Espionage! Solve the mystery of the “Deadly Hand” as the group of suspects reveal themselves!

Mon, June 22: Kayak Tour with Will H. & Mary S.
Join us for a virtual tour of Four Mile Creek and Deep Bottom as we casually paddle through the calm waters near Deep Bottom Park. No need to swat mosquitoes or paddle, we’ll take care of that! Just sit back, enjoy the view and get ideas for your next adventure!

Wed, June 24 at 12:00pm: Virtual Tour of Clarke-Palmore House Museum with Lisa D.
Join us for the first of two tours which explore the history of the Clarke-Palmore House Museum and grounds. The first tour focus​es on the neighborhood, land, and structures on the 12-acre property that was donated to the county in 1999 by Mrs. Vera Palmore Morton. Learn about the evolution of the brick farmhouse, the dependency buildings and their changing functions. Also learn about the inhabitants of the homestead and neighborhood in the 19th and early 20th century.

Fri, June 26 at 12:00pm: History Investigators with Bob L.
Since we can’t meet in person right now, we’ll do our detective work online. We will virtually hop around the county to visit some of our historic sites and solve some mysteries. You will use your investigative skills to figure out what some strange objects are, determine if you can figure out what is missing, and make conclusions about why some things at a few of our sites are the way they are (or not).

Yin yoga is a quiet, meditative practice with long, deep holding of passive poses, the opposite of a yang or active yoga practice. Yin targets connective tissues including fascia, bones, and joints, improves flexibility and strength, reduces stress and tension while encouraging mindfulness and meditation. Instructor: Debbie N.

Tue, June 25 at 4:00pm: Zumba
Zumba® takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. This is a more traditional Zumba® style by combining Latin rhythms, Socca, Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats and Modern Music with a West Indian background style format. Instructor: Simone D.
