County Manager’s Introduction

Strengthening Henrico’s Connections

Welcome to Henrico County’s State of the County address for 2020! On behalf of the Board of Supervisors and our hardworking employees, we are honored to share this annual update with you.

This year’s address is being presented virtually for safety reasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a series of videos found on this page, key subject matter experts share details and insight into not only how Henrico has managed the pandemic and worked to keep the community engaged and safe but also how we have thrived, delivering major accomplishments across service areas.

The videos detail our efforts on the budget, economic development, public safety, education, planning, recreation and sports tourism, community engagement and more. Also highlighted is one of the year’s most significant announcements – the plans for GreenCity, a walkable, environmentally sustainable, mixed-use community that will include a 17,000-seat arena.

Without a doubt, 2020 has been an extraordinary year. Much of our work has focused on strengthening the connections that make Henrico such a wonderful place to live, work and play. These connections with our residents, businesses and other stakeholders have proved particularly valuable in these challenging, socially distanced times. In the months and years ahead, we will continue to reinforce our connections with the community as we move forward together.

Thank you for your interest in your county. We look forward to hearing from you!

Respectfully,

John A. Vithoulkas
County Manager
