Twin Hickory Lake Drive Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements Study

The County of Henrico will be evaluating accommodations to increase pedestrian access and connectivity.    ​​This study will assess eliminating a vehicular travel lane on Twin Hickory Lake Drive in either direction and converting the vacated lane to a buffered bike lane. The limits for this project extend from Pouncey Tract Road to Twin Hickory Road. Other spot safety enhancements will also be considered throughout the corridor.

Progress to Date

• The signal modification at the intersection of Twin Hickory Lake Drive and Twin Hickory Road to remove a left turn lane and add a flashing yellow arrow was carried out separately from this study. The Traffic Engineering Division of Public Works previously analyzed the intersection and determined the new signal with a flashing yellow arrow would perform more efficiently than the previous configuration. • September 2023: The County is reviewing comments received from the community and determining next steps for the Twin Hickory Lake Drive corridor.
• A public information meeting was held on ​8/7/2023​, at ​Twin Hickory Elementary School​ (4900 Twin Hickory Lake Drive, Glen Allen, VA 23059) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and provide comments.
