Board approved the minutes of the July 11, 2006 Regular
and Special Meetings.
RECOGNITION
OF NEWS MEDIA
Mr. Glover recognized Olympia Meola of the Richmond
Times-Dispatch.
PUBLIC
COMMENTS
Ollie Harvey-Samaniego, a resident of the Fairfield District and founder
of the H.O.P.E. Organization, requested financial assistance from the County
for Sky’s Corner, a thrift store and youth alternative program affiliated with
her organization. Her daughter, Lataisha Harvey, also addressed the Board on this matter.
Richard G. Gibbons, a
resident of the Varina District, presented a letter
and petitions on behalf of the Associated Residents of Historic Marion Hill
expressing concern for the proper design of the proposed Ivy Hill subdivision
at Greenview
Drive and New Osborne Turnpike. Mr. Gibbons’ wife, Jean N. Gibbons, joined
Mr. Gibbons in asking that the Board creatively apply the County’s zoning
ordinance to ensure that the historic and natural features of the site,
including the forest cover, are preserved.
Bobbi Baker, a
resident of the Varina District, presented a letter
and petitions on behalf of the Associated Residents of Marion Hill requesting
that the Board create an elective historic overlay district to protect and
preserve the historic resources of their community.
