Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on March 8, 2005

 

Mr. Thornton led the Board, staff, and public in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Dr. Michael J. Clingenpeel, Pastor, River Road Church - Baptist, provided the invocation.

 

The minutes of the February 22, 2005 Regular and Special Meetings, January 27, 2005 Special Meeting, and July 30, 2004 Special Meeting were approved.

 

MANAGER’S COMMENTS

The polls for the six items on Henrico County’s 2005 General Obligation Bond and Meals Tax Referendum closed at 7:00 p.m. on March 8.  Mr. Hazelett announced that the County’s Registrar would deliver election results to the Board Room at approximately 8:15 p.m. so that members of the Board of Supervisors could provide comments to the media.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ COMMENTS

 

Mrs. O’Bannon recognized the following Boy Scouts who were observing the meeting to fulfill a requirement for the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge:  Evan Young from Troop 705, sponsored by Derbyshire Baptist Church; and Blake Smith from Troop 772, sponsored by Discovery United Methodist Church. 

 

Mr. Thornton recognized the following Boy Scouts who were also observing the meeting:  Will McCue from Troop 720, sponsored by Mount Vernon Baptist Church; Hunter Holthaus from Troop 722, sponsored by Shady Grove Family YMCA; Tim Dupuis from Troop 730, sponsored by St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church; and Ben Vaughan from Troop 772.

 

RECOGNITION OF NEWS MEDIA

Mr. Thornton recognized the presence of Meredith Bonny of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Tom Lappas of the Henrico Citizen, Jonathan Spiers of the Henrico County Leader, and Tara Morgan and Matt Neese of WWBT-TV 12.
