Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on July 13, 2004

Mrs. O'Bannon led the Board, staff, and public in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chaplain Dean Collings provided the invocation.

The Board approved the minutes of the June 22, 2004 Regular and Special Meetings.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' COMMENTS

Mr. Donati announced that it was Mr. Hazelett's birthday.

Mrs. O'Bannon recognized Katy Kasper, a rising sophomore at The Steward School, who is spending time with Mrs. O'Bannon this summer to learn more about Henrico County government and who was also celebrating a birthday.

RECOGNITION OF NEWS MEDIA

Mrs. O'Bannon recognized the presence of Nicole Johnson of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Jonathan Spiers of the Henrico County Leader, and Tom Lappas of the Henrico Citizen. She commented that she was pleased with the media's fair and balanced reporting of Henrico County government issues.

PRESENTATION

Mrs. O'Bannon presented a proclamation recognizing July 18 24, 2004 as Probation, Parole, and Community Supervision Officers' Week. Accepting the proclamation were William Shannon, Pretrial Services Officer, Community Corrections Program; Mary Cosby, County Probation Officer, Community Corrections Program; Linda Thurston, Parole Unit Supervisor, Fourteenth District Juvenile Court Service Unit; and Patricia Shaw, Probation and Parole Officer, District # 32, Adult Probation and Parole Office.
