Henrico Earth Day and Energy Fair set for April 22 at Fairfield Area Library

Henrico County will mark Earth Day on Friday, April 22 with a free community celebration and energy fair at Fairfield Area Library, 1401 N. Laburnum Ave.

Henrico County Earth Day and Energy Fair will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. with opportunities to learn about energy efficiency, solar power, green building and recycling. The event also will feature vendor displays, live music, activities, giveaways and food trucks, which will have refreshments available for purchase.

Drive Electric RVA and EV Noire will display electric vehicles in the parking lot. A tour of the library, which will highlight its green-building features, will be conducted by Quinn Evans Architects at 2 p.m. Participants should meet in the lobby to begin the tour. Fairfield Area Library, which opened in 2019, earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its sustainable design and construction and its reduced impact on the environment. A reading of “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the meeting room. Henrico County Public Schools will provide information on the Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainability, which is scheduled to open next fall at Varina High School.

The Earth Day and Energy Fair is hosted by Henrico Energy Management, Henrico County Public Library, the Division of Recreation and Parks and Keep Henrico Beautiful.
