Tuckahoe meeting Feb. 17 to discuss state of COVID-19 pandemic

Update: Dr. Melissa Viray, acting director of the Richmond and Henrico Health District, will represent the agency at the meeting following Dr. Danny Avula’s appointment as commissioner of the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Henrico County Board of Supervisors Chairman and Tuckahoe District Supervisor Patricia S. O’Bannon will host a Tuckahoe Town Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 17 to assess the state of COVID-19.

O’Bannon will be joined by Dr. Danny Avula, director of the Richmond and Henrico Health District, and Rob Rowley, the county’s chief of emergency management. They will reflect on the pandemic’s past two years, highlight the county’s response and discuss whether COVID-19 could be reaching an endemic phase, meaning the disease, like the flu, would remain present but be more controllable, with case numbers stable.

The meeting will be held at the Tuckahoe Area Library, 1901 Starling Drive, with sessions at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Residents also may participate virtually via WebEx, by following links for the 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. sessions.
