Schmitt, Romanello appointed to NACo committees

Brookland District Supervisor Daniel J. Schmitt and Henrico County Deputy County Manager for Community Services Anthony J. Romanello have been appointed to committees of the National Association of Counties (NACo) for 2018-19.

Schmitt, who took office following a Nov. 6 special election, will serve on the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Policy Steering Committee. Romanello will serve on the Health Policy Steering Committee.

They join seven other Henrico officials — four members of the Board of Supervisors and three deputy county managers — in serving on NACo committees.

A national grassroots organization uniting more than 3,000 counties across the United States, NACo works to improve county government and increase public understanding of the role of counties. The association’s steering committees form its policy-making arm. The committees and other governing bodies meet several times annually to examine key issues of county government and make recommendations on legislative policies and goals.
