HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (HCVP)
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Vouchers are awarded to the Henrico HCVP (Housing Choice Voucher Program) through VH (Virginia Housing). Staff will screen potential recipients from established waiting lists when vouchers are available. Staff will assist with initial and annual verifications, maintain required documentation, and monitor their housing status through annual site inspections and renewals.
POPULATION SERVED
The Housing Choice Vouchers are open to all adult consumers of the agency; all applicants must live in Henrico, Charles City or New Kent Counties and have some documented disability. In addition VH (Virginia Housing) may require additional populations served based on what is going on at a state/federal level (i.e. serving victims of a hurricane over those on the current waiting list). All persons meeting the criteria for the voucher program must make application to and be accepted on the Henrico waiting list to be eligible for a voucher.
PROCEDURES FOR REFERRAL, SCREENING, ADMISSION AND RE-ADMISSION
Housing Choice Vouchers are available to those applicants currently on the Henrico Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List. The waiting list is opened periodically for new applications. When vouchers are available, participants are drawn from the waiting list by date and time of their application; staff will contact those drawn on the list to begin the certification and lease up process.
