A 30-minute historically-focused tour about what Virginia society would/could have looked like if the torrential storm of August 30, 1800 never happened. How would life have been different? Join us for a fresh, historical take on Gabriel’s Rebellion.

How do colors affect us? How do they make us feel? Why, when people are depressed, are they called, “blue?” Join us for a historical discussion on colors: what was available to our ancestors, and what is available now.

 

👻 Cemeteries: Oct 30 👻
Why did people have cemeteries in their backyard, and why did they stop? Join us for a historical view of cemeteries and how we view death and mourning have changed over the centuries.

 

📖 Pocahontas: Nov 6 📖
She’s on the Henrico County seal, but what do we really know about her? Many Virginians trace their ancestry to her, but who was she? Join us for a historical tour about the life and times of Matoaca, Pocahontas, Rebecca Rolfe.

Over one hundred years ago, American society experienced a radical and momentous change – the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. Elizabeth Adam Crump of Meadow Farm would be one of the first women in Henrico County to cast a ballot. Join us for a focused tour to learn more about the long struggle to achieve women’s suffrage.
