Beautiful Dreamer: The Music of Stephen Foster

FreeJoin historian Carson Hudson and his musical group, to learn about the life and music of the most popular American songwriter of the 19th century, Stephen Foster. You may recognize some of his songs, such as “Beautiful Dreamer,” “Camptown Races,” “Jeanie with the Light Brown Hard,” “My Old Kentucky Home,” and “Oh Susanna.” Discover the backstory of Foster’s most endearing songs and maybe even sing along. What does DooDah really mean? Come to learn its meaning and many other fascinating things about Foster’s songs.
Help us celebrate Foster with some refreshments and dancing that was popular during his lifetime.
