Qualifications To Vote In Virginia
(Constitution of Virginia, Article II, § 1)
Any person who is a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age as of the date of the November General Election and a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia may register to vote. Those individuals who have been convicted of a felony must have had their civil rights restored to be able to register. Those individuals who have been judged by a Circuit Court to be mentally incompetent must have had their competency declared by the courts to be able to register.
As confirmation of your voter registration, you will receive a voter card by mail from the Office of the General Registrar, usually within two (2) weeks of receipt of your application (excepting periods when the registration books are closed prior to an election).
