Minimum eligibility requirements may include, but are not limited to: age, prerequisite skills, safety, endurance, behavioral, personal care, and medical issues. Disco and Dogs All-American Style
Ages 18+. Open to individuals with disabilities who meet the minimum eligibility requirements. Please join us for a sizzling summer dance at the Deep Run Disco! Dance the night away, enjoy a hot dog fresh off the grill, and have your picture taken in our one-of-a-kind photo booth. Beat the heat with friends, food, and fun. You may even get lucky and win one of many door prizes. Wear your favorite 70’s attire! Information:

FUN Fridays!
Ages 18+. Open to individuals with disabilities who meet the minimum eligibility requirements. Participants are expected to function with a maximum staffing support of 1:3. Therapeutic Recreation offers opportunities for peer interaction and development of social/life skills as well as a positive self image through a variety of activities. Make your own pizza, go sailing on the river, and enjoy learning more about leisure opportunities in your community. Field trips to be announced prior to program start date. Information:

Family Fun Series
All ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The NEW Family Fun Series is a unique opportunity for the entire family with children with intellectual or physical disabilities to recreate together! Meet new people, make new friends, and enjoy family time together! Participants and families will provide their own supervision. Registration is required for each family member attending the program.

Under the Big Top
A unique Carnival/Circus event designed for all to enjoy! There will be entertainment, games, prizes, food, and informational booths. Registration online required in advance. Information:

7th Inning Stretch
Watch the “Flying Squirrels” play baseball at the Diamond! It is also Flag Day so wear your red, white, and blue. Information:

Family Fitness and Fun
Spend the afternoon playing games and participating in several different fitness activities that the whole family can enjoy together! Activities will take place outside and inside the facility. Information:

Family Day at Cobblestones Park
Registration of a paying adult is required. Spend the afternoon splashing around and swimming at Cobblestones Park! Don’t forget to bring money if you want a snack from the concession stand. Participants and each attending family member must register; children under age two are free. Information:

  • All those attending a program (that requires registration) must be listed on the registration form along with the required assumption of liability signatures.
  • Please register at least one week prior to the start date!

Dance Registration
Dance registration will be open to Henrico County residents EXCLUSIVELY for two weeks (10 business days). After the two-week period, remaining spaces will be available to anyone requesting them. Henrico County residents shall be defined as a person:

  • with a mailing address within Henrico County.
  • who resides in a group home located in Henrico County.
  • who resides in a group home outside Henrico County but can document a home address within Henrico County (parent’s or guardian’s home only).

Don’t Forget!

  • Registration is first-come, first-served.
  • Registration is required in advance.
  • Payment will not be accepted at the door.
  • Each participant’s name and address must be provided at the time of registration.
  • Each participant (or guardian if applicable) must sign the liability waiver on the registration form.
  • Participants must meet minimum eligibility requirements.

Instructors: Unless listed otherwise, programs are taught by Recreation Staff. All fitness, dance, and sports programs are taught by instructors who are nationally certified in their area(s) of expertise.

Special Accommodations: If you have a disability and will need assistance or special accommodations in order to enjoy any of these programs or events, call Therapeutic Recreation at 501-5135 no later than ten working days prior to the program date.
