Police_Motorist_Assistance_LindseyThe Motorist Assistance team is comprised of many volunteers from our community. These citizens must attend six weeks of training before they are deputized and entered into the program. Most are Citizens Police Academy graduates. During this time, they learn to use and care for specialized motor vehicles and related equipment. The Motorist Assistance team members work in all types of weather and during the day and/or night.

They have a variety of duties from assisting disabled vehicles to directing traffic. They are indispensable to officers at crash scenes since they are able to free officers from directing traffic so that they may assist crash victims and other police officers at crash scenes. They also stand by to wait for wreckers to arrive, which frees up officers. In addition, they report traffic hazards and perform other duties as required.
