MANAGER’S COMMENTS

The Virginia Sustainability Building Network (VSBN), a statewide non-profit organization that promotes environmentally sound building practices, has recognized Henrico County with a 2008 Virginia Green Innovation Award for “Most Sustainable Community Program.”  The award is based on the County’s continuing successful efforts to bring a higher level of energy and environmental awareness to Henrico residents and students as well as County employees through its Energy Program, which is now in its sixth year of development.  Jerry L. Walker, Energy Manager, and William L. Smith, Deputy Director of General Services, accepted the award on behalf of the County at VSBN’s 13th anniversary celebration and annual meeting held on June 25, 2008 at the University of Richmond’s Jepson Alumni Center.  Paul N. Proto, Director of General Services, will present the award to Mr. Kaechele at a later date.
