Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on January 10, 2006
The invocation was given by Rev. Dr. Mark Becton, Senior Pastor, Grove Avenue Baptist Church.
The minutes of the December 13, 2005 Regular and Special Meetings and November 29, 2005 Special Meeting were approved.
Mr. Hazelett announced that Karl Malloy was seated behind the Board of Supervisors in the chair normally occupied by George T. Drumwright, Jr., Deputy County Manager for Community Services. Mr. Drumwright was absent from the meeting due to recent surgery. Mr. Malloy was completing a brief internship in the County Attorney’s Office. A graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Malloy is in his last year of studies at the University of Virginia School of Law, the alma mater of Henrico County Attorney Joseph P. Rapisarda, Jr. Upon graduation, Mr. Malloy will join the firm of Latham & Watkins in New York City.
Charita M. Lee, Secretary of the Fairfield Woods Homeowners Association and a resident of the Varina District, reiterated concerns regarding the status of plans to correct a drainage problem behind the homes on Battersea Place in the Fairfield Woods subdivision.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS’ COMMENTS
Mr. Thornton recognized the following Boy Scouts who were observing the meeting to fulfill a requirement for the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge: Doug Rowland from Troop 720, sponsored by Mount Vernon Baptist Church; Michael Lumpkins from Troop 770, sponsored by River Road Presbyterian Church; and Jacob Duncan, Alex Halquist, Caleb Higginbotham, and Johnny Poore from Troop 768, sponsored by the Glen Allen Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
