Varina District Supervisor Tyrone E. Nelson will hold a series of Community Conversations meetings in September to provide information on Henrico County’s upcoming meals tax referendum.
The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 at Varina High School, 7053 Messer Road; 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at Elko Middle School, 5901 Elko Road; and 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Road.
Nelson and county staff will lead the discussion, which will include a question-and-answer period.
As part of the general election ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Henrico voters will be asked whether a 4 percent tax on prepared meals and beverages should be authorized in the county. All of the revenue generated by the tax would be used to boost funding for Henrico County Public Schools.
