Henrico County’s Proposed FY 2014 Budget

Henrico County’s proposed budget for the 2014 fiscal year – the smallest county budget since 2008 – now is available online. The Proposed Annual Fiscal Plan and Capital Budget for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 details revenues and expenditures for all county agencies from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014. The proposed budget closes an $18.5 million gap without laying off employees or increasing the real estate tax rate of 87 cents per $100 assessed value – the lowest among the 13 largest localities in Virginia. The budget includes reductions to a number of county programs and services. Click here.

Also featured is the Manager’s Message, which provides an overview of the budget, explains the challenging economic circumstances in which the budget was developed and emphasizes the need to consider new revenue sources as the county looks toward 2015. Click here.

Residents will have the opportunity to offer comments at the budget public hearing April 9. The Board of Supervisors will vote to formally adopt the budget on April 23.
